Since 2017, the tower has been part of the Coal Mining Museum in Zabrze. In 2018, the site underwent a thorough restoration as part of an urban revitalization project for heritage sites.
At the top, there's a restaurant and café called "Kelnerzy z Wieży" (Waiters from the Tower), with a glass-enclosed view. From the tower, you can admire the panorama of Zabrze and the surrounding area; on clear days, you can even see the Beskids and Tatra Mountains.
The Zabrze Water Tower dominates the local landscape with its sheer scale. Built on an octagonal layout supported by eight pillars and a central core, the structure stands 46 meters tall. It was designed in 1909 by architect August Kind and construction counselor Friedrich Loose.
Located on Zamoyskiego Street, the tower was an integral part of the modern water supply system developed in Upper Silesia starting in the 19th century. The most critical elements of this network were secure water intakes and a transmission system that featured monumental water towers celebrated for their beautiful architecture. This massive brick building, topped with a mansard roof and a decorative lantern, originally housed a massive water tank, as well as three floors of staff apartments and utility workshops.
